USE OF WELL TURNED-OUT WEBSITE FILE-NAMES FOR HIGH SEARCH ENGINE RANKINGS

The file names have important implication for operating system usability, compatibility and Web site promotion, particularly if keywords appear in the filename; it helps the website in search engine rankings. Since it has become apparent that main aim of SEO is to embed targeted keyword phrases into a website to reach a high rank on a search engine results page (SERP) under those keyword phrases, targeting right keyword phrase in the file-name will emphasize the effect of the search engine ranking.
For instance once you know which your prime keywords are, it would be wise calling your webpage with name
“segnant.html”

Search engines crawls through both the text that is displayed on a page as a link, called anchor text, and the file name that it is linked to. It would be more advantageous to include targeted phrases in both. Google pays high importance to file names of the site and in return gives the site a lead in the search engine ranking. It would also be advisable to keep the optimized pages static in their approach with .html format. Indexing a dynamic page is a difficult task for the search engine spiders.
Use of hyphens or underscores to separate keywords while naming file is a good option. The filename in which a homepage that links to all of its following pages but still retain its keyword focus also gets a boost in the search engine ranking. Even though file names are only a small part of the SEO process and if only file names are optimized and not the on-page copy, the file name design will affect the incoming links, internal site structure etc.
Beware of using over board file names and domain names. Obviously you would not love to get discouraged by your visitors and not rewarded by the search engines.
